[TOP 10] Best Pump Sprayers For You And Me

Best Pump Sprayers Reviews 2019

Let us address that heavy elephant in the room: water hoses suck.

No, this doesn’t mean that all water hoses are terrible or inefficient. Water hoses are great to use when watering your plants or washing your car. They shoot water at an easy velocity, making simple tasks remain just. However, some jobs require something stronger than a standard water hose.

Those elegant bricks in your yard?

Those rust stains on your fishing boat?

That patch of land that’s infested with all kinds of nasty insects?

You need a pump sprayer.

What Is A Pump Sprayer?

Imagine a water hose, but instead of a narrow tube, your nozzle is attached to a small to medium sized tank. Unlike backpack sprayers, you can’t wear them on your back. However, they’re usually built to be very light, weighed down only by the fluids you fill them with. They’re also very cheap (in price).

So far so good, huh?

But just wait until you hear what they’re often used for!

What Are Pump Sprayers Used For?

Whatever your creativity brings to you!

Pump sprayers are capable of handling all sorts of different liquids inside their tanks. If you want to take it easy, you can fill it up with water. If you got more heavy-duty chores in mind, fill in some chemicals. Of course, this may go without saying...but you should always heed essential health and safety regulations if you work with strong chemicals. Don’t inhale the noxious fumes, nor do you put any of it inside your mouth. Depending on the chemical, you may also need a gas-mask to protect yourself.

For instance, say you work in a plant somewhere downtown. Your job requires cleaning rusted equipment with extremely strong (and highly toxic) bleach. Your pump sprayer can be used to clean the rust and restore old equipment so they are good as new. But because bleach is so dangerous, you really should consider wearing protective gear when working!

Tending the garden can even be dangerous at times. While not as immediately harmful as bleach, prolonged exposure to herbicide and pesticide can still potentially kill you. Pump sprayers can certainly handle both chemicals, however. In fact, some models are made specifically for tending to your garden!

Of course, if you DON’T want to work with noxious chemicals, you can go back to our original suggestion and use water. Pump sprayers are very good at pressure-washing stone and concrete. Just don’t wash your car this way. Please don’t wash your car with a pump sprayer. It WILL damage your vehicle and potentially break something!

Reviews

  1    Chapin International 20003

Chapin International 20003 All Purpose Hand Pump Sprayer, 3 gal, Translucent White

Behold!

The granddaddy of all pump sprayers!

The Chapin International 20003!

An absolutely giant on Amazon, this bad-boy can handle just about anything that you stuff into it. One of the few sprayers to have patented anti-clog technology, you never have to worry about your spray job getting rudely interrupted. While the sprayers on this list are all amazing in their own right, this baby is the only one that is built so intricately that absolutely every step involved in using it feels just as satisfying as taking a sip of the best margaritas in the Carribean.

In fact, there’s literally one issue that’s worth mentioning.

Some customers have pointed out that the locking mechanism in some models tend to break if you tighten them too tightly, or you use too much force when locking it. Considering that only a few have mentioned this, we’re under the assumption that these customers might’ve been unaware of how fragile pump sprayers can be. Like with any piece of equipment, you have to be careful when using it. If you’re too rough, you WILL break things. That’s just how it is!

PROS

 - Anti-clog technology

 - Adjustable nozzle

 - Handle makes spray job simpler

- Comfort grip

- Fan favorite amongst customers

- Light as a feather, Very cheap!^^

CONS

 - Locking mechanism may break if you’re too rough with it

  2    Chapin International 20075

Chapin International 20075 Disinfectant Bleach Sprayer, 1 Gallon, Translucent White

The Chapin International 20075 just barely misses the number one spot on our list. Not that there’s anything wrong with a Chapin model that specializes more with bleach spraying rather than other chemicals/fluids. Heck, this is easily the best pump sprayer for bleach on this entire list! And yes, this sprayer is more durable than even the Chapin International 20003!

So why is this pump sprayer only our second choice on our top ten list of the best pump sprayers?

Because multiple people have brought up an issue that we need to address.

This Chapin bleach sprayer, despite being a popular choice for customers, has angered a few people due to the assembly instructions being tough to understand. This isn’t just an issue with this particular model, but with a few other Chapin models. Thankfully, there’s kind souls who have posted videos for those who struggle to assemble their Chapin International 20075. If you find yourself getting stuck while assembling, just refer to those videos and you’ll be solid.

Isn’t the internet great?

PROS

 - Adjustable nozzle

 - Handle makes spray job simpler

 - Comfort grip

- Light as a feather, Very cheap!

CONS

 - Some users have complained about directions being too hard to follow

  3    Smith Contractor 190216

Only naturally, our number three spot is going to go to a Smith contractor sprayer.

What, were you expecting another Chapin model?

We don’t blame you, there’s more of them on this list!

One of the more versatile options on our list, the Smith Contractor 190216 comes with five different nozzles that you can attach to your sprayer. This allows you to have more control over how you spray your fluids or otherwise chemically harmful substances. This is especially helpful--especially since there’s absolutely NO NEED WHATSOEVER to pressure wash a small stain with bleach! You get the freedom to wash things how you see fit wit this lovely pump sprayer!

PROS

 - Comfort grip

 - Comes with five different nozzles

 - Adjustable nozzle

- Pressure value protects you from harmful chemicals, Super light.

CONS

 - A little more pricey than other models

  4    Chapin 1002

Chapin 1002 48-Ounce Hand Sprayer for Multi-Purpose Use, 48-Ounce (1 Sprayer/Package)

The Chapin 1002 is what we fondly like to call the ‘baby sister’ of this list of the top ten best pump sprayers. And just by one glance at the above picture, we’re sure you can see why. Just look at this thing! It’s so cute!

Before you start scratching your heads, yes pump sprayers can be this small. Pump sprayers come in different sizes and shapes, from cute hand-helds to standard tank sprayers. You can even have sprayers that you can wear on your back...though these are technically different than pump sprayers. So with this being said, this sprayer is both meant to be on this list AND it can still pack a powerful punch!

PROS

 - Comfort grip

 - Handle makes spray job simpler

 - Anti-clog system

- Adjustable nozzle

- Practically weightless, Very cheap!

CONS

  5    Roundup 190260

Roundup 190260 Lawn and Garden Sprayer, 2 Gallon

With the enhanced spray range of this pump sprayer, it’s super easy to give your yard a nice thin coat of pesticide or herbicide. So long as you don’t go overboard in spraying, your problems with little garden trolls (such as weeds, mosquitos, flies, mushrooms, etc.) will be taken care of in a flash.

Sounds like a fair deal to us!

  7    Chapin International 26021XP

Chapin International 26021XP Compression Sprayer, 2 Gallon

Our seventh heaven to bless our list is the Chapin International 26021XP. As far as it goes with Chapin brand sprayers, this 2 gallon pump sprayer continues the trend of bringing us new features that can’t be found on other products. For starters, the hose mouth on this sprayer is actually wider than most models. While this may not give you much control over how you spray your fluids/chemicals, it does make cleaning up very easy. Think about it, most mouths are tight and hard to sanitize after spraying strong chemicals out of it. With a bigger mouth, you don’t have to struggle as much!

Not to mention that the Chapin International 26021XP comes with a nifty three stage filtering system. This is especially handy when using chemicals instead of non-toxic fluids. For a clearer explanation, think of pesticide. As helpful as it is in keeping your garden safe from bugs, there’s also chemicals in it that could not only make you sick, but also any nearby animal. So when you got a sprayer that’s able to filter the bad stuff out, the future looks so much brighter.

PROS

 - Mouth is wide enough to make after-spray cleaning easy

 - Three stage filtering system

 - Handle makes spray job simpler

- Comfort grip

CONS

 - A little pricier than other models

 - A little heavier than some models

  8    Solo 430-2G

Solo 430-2G 2-Gallon Farm and Garden Sprayer with Nozzle Tips for Multiple Spraying Needs

The Solo 430-2G comes to us as number eight on our top list of the best pump sprayers. This 2 gallon pump sprayer offers four different settings for your nozzle. If you want to pressure spray the sidewalk in front of your yard, you can set the nozzle to fire at full force. If you’d prefer a light mist, you can do that too. Want a heavy drizzle, like a rainy day? Just change that setting!

Or are you looking forward more to just a normal spray?

Not a problem, either!

PROS

 - Four different settings for nozzle

 - Minimal strain with the lock-on/off system

 - Wand is unbreakable

- Light as a feather, Very cheap!

CONS

 - Design flaw has led to leakage in some models

  9    Smith 190285

Smith 190285 1-Gallon Bleach and Chemical Sprayer for Lawns and Gardens or Cleaning Decks, Siding, and Concrete

If you’re tired of purchasing sprayers with hard to understand assembly instructions, the Smith 190285 is a breath of fresh air. Thanks to its small size, it takes literally one minute to assemble this pump sprayer. That certainly takes some of the pressure off you, doesn’t it? No need to worry about wasting your entire afternoon on one pump sprayer!

However, the Smith 190285’s small size can be a problem too. This is one of the few sprayers on this list that can only be bought as a one gallon pump sprayer. This isn’t a deal-breaking con, by any means. Some people actually prefer smaller sprayers, as they are easier to carry around.

Granted, most pump sprayers are already light as a feather!

PROS

 - Only one step required to assemble

 - Comfort grip

 - Minimal strain with the lock-on/off system

- Viton seals are replaceable

- Adjustable nozzle

- Light as a feather, Very cheap!

CONS

 - Can only handle one gallon

- Some users have complained about directions being too hard to follow

  10    Rainmaker Pump Sprayer

Rainmaker Pump Sprayer - 2 Gallon

Don’t let the Rainmaker Pump Sprayer’s last place reputation steer you away. It may have last place, but it’s number ten on a top ten list of the best pump sprayers. Without a doubt, this sprayer is the most versatile out of all the options on this list. Why do we say that? Because look how many size options you have for it!

If you want a small pump, you can purchase the Rainmaker Pump Sprayer at a size as tiny as half a gallon. As far as pump sprayers go, you can purchase this baby at a size as big as three gallons (though the picture sprayer is only two). If three gallons aren’t good enough for you, then you can upgrade to a backpack sprayer and earn an extra two gallons! How impressive is that?!

PROS

 - Can purchase models that contain up to 5 gallons

 - Can be bought as a backpack

 - Easy to see liquid levels

- Minimal strain with the lock-on/off system

- Light as a feather, Very cheap!

CONS

 - Design flaw has led to leakage in some models

Concluding Thoughts

Let us reiterate our point from the beginning of this guide. No, we’re not trying to discourage anyone from using a standard water hose as their chosen sprayer. We’re simply pointing out that water hoses don’t have the same power as pump sprayers. We mean, if you want a job done, you got to add that extra kick to make things work as they should.

In other words, give it that extra little ‘oomph’!

All ten of these pump sprayers are guaranteed to make your day a whole lot better. Upon purchasing one of these products, you may feel a sense of relief. “Wow, I don’t have to bust my butt anymore!” you may think to yourself! “I can now do my heavy-duty jobs without wasting any time!”

Well, there’s always the possibility of something going down.

Jan from across the street might ‘borrow’ your pump sprayer in the hopes of washing her husband’s car!

And alas, you’ll all have a good laugh.
